Before anything else, I'm a wife and mother, and I am so grateful to have a career that also provides me the flexibility to be at home with my boys. A lifelong love of reading has turned into a 20-year career as an editor and professional wordsmith, and I thank God for that every day.
A bit about my professional background: In 2006, I started working as a peer tutor in my college's writing center, completely unaware that my fun student job would set me on the path to a deeply fulfilling career as an editor and writer. After graduation, I worked for four years as Managing Editor for Regnery Publishing, Inc., in Washington, DC. From there, I served for a time as associate op-ed editor for The Washington Times and later as a senior staff writer for a public relations firm.
From 2014 to 2016, I stepped away from my career to discern religious life with the Dominican Sisters of St. Cecilia in Nashville, TN. God made it clear he had something else in mind for me, however, and in 2016 I left the convent. That same year, I started working as acquisitions editor for Our Sunday Visitor, a job that allowed me to combine my love of editing books and serving authors with my love for Jesus. (It also led me to move to Indiana, where I met my now-husband in 2018. God knew what he was doing!) In 2020, while still working for OSV, I completed a Master's degree in Publishing through The George Washington University.
As an editor, I specialize in non-fiction books, and I have worked with hundreds of authors in every stage of the book publishing process, from developing an idea into a compelling proposal, to editing and refining the first draft of a manuscript, to proofreading the final text before it goes to the printer. I also edit short-form works, including articles for digital and print publications, website copy, and blog posts. Collaborating with and encouraging authors is my favorite part of my job, because I firmly believe that everyone has a story worth sharing, and writing should never be an isolated practice. Quite the contrary: communication should always build communion.
